The Guidance and
Counselling Service at Elanora State High School further promotes the forward
thinking ethos of our school community. We acknowledge that our students are
people first and that adolescence can be a stressful time in a young person’s
life. Similarly we acknowledge that emotional and physical wellbeing are
critical factors in the teaching and learning process.
The Guidance service
seeks to support the young person to balance the stresses or barriers to
learning that sometimes materialise in their life so that they can be an active
member of their school community. In
being active members of our community students will develop knowledge and
confidence to pursue an educational pathway that is suitable to their needs. Additionally
they will have the skills and confidence beyond our confines to create a life
that is personally meaningful.
In support of the Elanora
vision, The Guidance Officer provides Guidance and Counselling service to all
members of our school community. This includes parenting information, time
management planning, stress management, career guidance, conflict resolution
and mediation, subject changes and course selection, tertiary study advice, OP
information, Selection Rank information, student illness management planning
and a full range of counselling issues.
