Instrumental Music Program
The Elanora State High School Instrumental Music Program is a comprehensive co-curricular program that provides students with the opportunity to learn orchestral and band instruments while developing valuable musical, academic and personal skills. As an extension of the classroom music program, it offers a structured pathway focused on instrumental performance, ensemble playing and musical excellence.
Students receive weekly small-group tuition and participate in our vibrant school ensembles, including the String Orchestra, Concert Band and Stage Band. The program follows a Queensland state-wide curriculum, with students progressing through ten sequential levels that develop musical literacy, technical proficiency, ensemble skills and performance expertise. Student achievement is formally assessed and reported on school report cards alongside other academic subjects, with continued participation through secondary school contributing towards Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) points.
Our passionate instrumental music staff create engaging and rewarding learning opportunities through annual music camps, local primary school tours, workshops and regular public performances. Students regularly perform at school ceremonies, including the Annual Awards Night, and proudly represent the school at events such as the Gold Coast Eisteddfod and Fanfare. Through these experiences, students develop confidence, resilience, teamwork and a lifelong appreciation of music, making the Instrumental Music Program another outstanding reason to choose Elanora State High School.
