During Term 1, students will learn about subject options and pathways for their future study in Year 11 and 12.
At the beginning of Term 2, students will complete a setplan that will seelct subjects that they will study in Year 11 and 12.
The Next Steps and Tertiary Expo will be held at the beginning of Term 2. Parents and students are required to attend this event where they will connect with teachers and subject experts as well as universities, tafes, registered training organisations and employers including emergency services. Students will also then receive line structure and subject selection forms that they will need to complete as part of their setplan interview.
Parents are also required to attend one parent information session, that will run through the course of the Expo. This is also an opportunity to pose questions via a QR code.
From the beginning of Semester 2, students will transition from Australian Curriculum to preparatory QCAA courses that are aligned with the QCAA syllabus and designed to support students transitioning into Year 11 and 12.
Certificate and Diploma courses will also begin in Semester 2, Year 10.
In the senior school, students must study a minimum of six subjects. This must include a Maths and an English subject. Students will choose from either ATAR or Personalised or VET pathway in their senior years of schooling.
Some things to consider when selecting subjects:
- What are my plans for the future?
- Which subjects are necessary or best to help me achieve my goals?
- Can I be successful in those subjects?
- Which subjects do I enjoy the most?
- Am I keeping my options open so I can change my mind about what I want to do in the future?
- Which subjects will let me maintain a balance between study and leisure time?
- Which subjects will help me develop skills in areas that interest me?
- Which subjects will help me better understand the world and my role as an adult in it?
