The Junior Academy Academic Class of Excellence (ACE) Program runs for students in Years 7, 8 and 9 and this best suited program for the academic elite of Elanora SHS. This program is an Academic Extension program focusing on challenging the individual to achieve their best in all of their subjects. In 2015 this program introduced Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) as a way of delivering its curriculum.
The ACE program is an ideal preparation for students heading towards a University Career Option and one of the many Elanora SHS school based University program in partnership with Griffith University such as GRIFBIO, GRIFCHEM, GRIFNG, GRIFBUS and Southern Cross University’s Headstart Program.
Students in the ACE program are expected to participate in a range of co and extra-curricular programs such as the Science and Engineering Challenge, National Science competitions, Westpac Maths competition, Opti-Minds, Public speaking competitions, Brain Training Day at RBSLC and the Master Class program coordinated by Elanora SHS.
To apply for the ACE program, applicants are required to submit the application form and successfully complete the entrance test. Key criteria for entry into the program are:
School Reports – Academic, Behaviour, Attendance
Referee Report and Support from Primary School
Student’s personal goals
Entrance Test performance
Students’ progress is reviewed following each reporting cycle and students need to maintain satisfactory performance to retain their place in the program.
