BYOD Program

By providing an opportunity for students to bring their own device, Elanora State High School endeavours to produce a learning experience that meets student needs in a 21st century learning environment.

By supporting students to become responsible digital citizens, we enhance not only their learning in the classroom, but also the development of skills that will prepare them for their future studies and careers.

This page outlines all the requirements for our BYOD requirements:

BYOD in the Junior School

As part of our Junior Secondary Pathway offerings, Elanora State High School is providing students with the opportunity to participate in our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program.

This program has been developed in alignment with the ACARA framework and our vision for school-wide technology use. It will allow students to engage with the curriculum through a laptop of their choosing.

In 2017 Elanora State High School is offering 3 BYOD programs:

  • Year 7 ACE
  • Year 7 Sports Excellence
  • Year 7 BYOD (By application)

Junior students participating in this program will need an appropriate device (see below), they will need to complete the Elanora SHS BYOD Charter, and pay our connection fee.

In 2017, Elanora State High School will operate a total of 9 dedicated BYOD classes in the junior school.

Junior BYOD Program Registration

Our year 7 2017 program is now full - should you wish to put your name down for a position should one become available, then please register via the BYOD waiting list link to the right.

BYOD in the Senior School

In 2017, Elanora State High school students will have the opportunity to bring their own device for use in classrooms.

Senior students opting into this program will need to complete the Elanora SHS BYOD Charter, pay the connection fee and they will have access to all the online catalogue of resources that are at our students’ fingertips.

Students participating in this program also have access to the following options:

• 12 months Adobe Creative Cloud for their device.

• Laptop Security in the form of a personal locker.

Senior BYOD Program Registration

Registration for 2017 Senior BYOD is now open. Students interested in being a part of this program need to:

  • Complete the BYOD Charter/Locker Agreement
  • Pay the $50 Locker Hire/Connection Fee at Student Services
  • Bring the Documentation/Fee Reciept to the HUB to have their device connected and locker assigned

BYOD Purchasing Portals

Whilst the responsibility for purchasing a device for our BYOD programs lies with the parent and student, Elanora State High has gone to lengths to provide purchasing opportunities that provide devices (and attached service) that would best suit our BYOD programs.

Below you can access vendors who already supply devices to Education Queensland schools and are offering arrangements that are similar to what we as a school receive when we purchase. You may wish to use these when purchasing a device for our BYOD program:

Software and BYOD

Microsoft Office 365

All Queensland state school staff and students can now download multiple free copies of the latest Microsoft Office to their personal home computers and mobile devices.

Students and staff will need to use their school email address to sign in. Students who don’t have a school login, school email account and password should contact their school's Managed Internet Service (MIS) administrator or class teacher. The administrator will help students activate their school login.

Microsoft Office 2016 is available for personal devices only, not devices owned by the department or part of a school network. Errors and conflicts will occur if Office 2016 is downloaded on departmental devices, as these devices already have a licenced copy of Microsoft Office.

Your Office subscription lasts for as long as you’re a Queensland state school student or school-based staff member.

For more detailed information on how to download this software see the software links section of this page.

Norton Anti-Virus

In partnership with Norton by Symantec, Education Queensland is providing 12 months subscription to Norton for only $10. This would mean your student’s device is protected with the most current and up-to-date anti-virus software.
