Queensland Core Skills Test (QCST) Preparations

On 29 and 30 August students at Elanora SHS and across the state are required to sit four exams known as the Queensland Core Skills Tests. The exams consist of a Writing Task, Short Response Task and two Multiple Choice Tasks.

QCST Students

Monday 28 August
During Period 4 all students sitting the QCST are required to attend a final preparation tutorial run by Mighty Minds. The purpose of the session is to revisit and consolidate the preparation techniques that have been taught over the last year.
 
Tuesday 29 August
Elanora SHS Hospitality classes will prepare a nutritious breakfast for all students sitting the QCST. Students will be served in Edibles Restaurant at 7:45am. They will then be required to enter the Student Centre at 8:30am to begin the first 
of two tests.
  •  Writing Task – 9:00am to 11:10am
  •  Multiple Choice I – 12:30pm to 2:10pm
 

Wednesday 30 August

Again, Elanora SHS Hospitality classes will prepare a nutritious breakfast for all students sitting the QCST. Students will be served in Edibles Restaurant at 7:45am. They will then be required to enter the Student Centre at 8:30am to begin the first of two tests that include:

  •  Short Response Task – 9:00am to 11:10am 
  •  Multiple Choice II – 12:30pm to 2:10pm

Non QCST Students

All Year 12 classes will NOT be running during the QCST. Non QCST students who are on track to attain their QCE (passing all chosen subjects) will be provided with an off-campus study allowance during Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 August. These students are not be required to attend classes during the two testing days.
 

Any Year 12 student who has failed one or more subject/s across the Academic area in Semester 1 2017, is required to attend Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 August from Form Class to the end of the day. This is to ensure those Year 12 students remain on track to attain their QCE and secure the pathway of their choice.

These students will be allocated to a specific tutorial group which will be staffed by teachers with expertise across a number of teaching areas, and will provide students with extra assistance and tutoring to improve their results and ensurebthey remain on track to attain their QCE. Students enrolled in this program will be contacted prior to the QCST.
