Athletics carnival round up

2/08/2013

The Track N Field carnival again was a wonderful success highlighting the many talents of the students at Elanora SHS. A big thankyou goes to all the staff again for the professional and efficient manner in which they assisted in running the carnival. Special thanks to the Groundsman, Alan Watts, for the tireless effort in preparing the oval for this event, keeping in mind the numerous nights of rain we experienced in leading up to the event.

Congratulations to the House Leaders for the successful job in enthusing their fellow house mates and supporting the participation concept that Elanora prides itself on. Carnival themes were again interesting, themes not necessarily supporting the Track N Field concept of speed and power, but none the less added a lot of colour and flair. Farmyard animals were the winning theme on the day, seeing black and white cows running around a track is a sight to see. Best dressed went to Malee Rowell cleverly dressed as a bunch of grapes. Well done guys!

Champion house for 2013 went to Bilinga House on 1915pts, 2nd Coolangatta 1886pts, 3rd Kirra -1738pts, 4th 1510pts.

Records:

It’s very rare to break records that exist in a school that is 22 years old and considering the exceptionally high calibre of the students who have been through the school, but again it amazes me that records fell again this year.

Congratulations to the following students who now will have their names printed in future years programs as record holders:

Michael Christodoulou: 13Yrs Boys 100m, 12.65sec
